Finally the whole family is together for the first time. We arrived in Minnesota late Sunday night and the kids got to meet Kenzen for the first time Monday morning. The kids are doing great with being here they offer a play room with a lot of fun toys that they have volunteers to watch them while me and Dave hang out in Kenzens room. Kenzen is doing really well. They were able to take his chest tube out on Saturday and so far his X-rays have been great. They were also able to get him down to a mode on ventilator where he is doing all the work. They put him on that for a few hours every eight hours to get him ready for excabation( taking he breathing tube out) They were hopefully going to get him off the machine on Monday but he developed a fever on Saturday night that concerned them . The cloture from his art line came back positive for infection so they started him on antibiotics and had to stop doing the trials with his vent. But the cloture from Monday morning so far hasn't come back positive so we are hopeful that the infection is gone and today which is Tuesday they have started doing the trials again for his breathing machine. If everything goes well and no more infection he should get his breathing tube out in the next couple if days which means we can finally hold him and he is that much closer to coming home. After he is off the machine all he has to do is be able to eat even if he can't take a bottle as long as he can handle the food without developing another leak that requires another chest tube they will send him home with either a feeding tube through his nose or they will out one going directly into his stomach through his abdomen. The other thing that might set him back is a pacemaker. They still haven't decided if he really needs one or not yet they are waiting to see how he does once he's off the breathing machine but we are told that procedure shouldn't delay him but maybe only a few days. We are going to talk to the surgeon today about the pacer later today and I'll post again either when that decision is made or hopefully in a few days when he's off his breathing machine. I'm really hopeful that he will get to come home by the end of this month as long as he doesn't get anymore complications. Thank you for all the prayers and support.
